Gallery Wrapped Canvas

I am in love.  I just can't help it.  A beautiful image printed on canvas wrapped over a frame ready to hang no muss no fuss is just one of my favorite things. I ordered a few sample canvases last week and upon arriving home from my weekend trip to VA I found a box just full of love for me.  I think the simplicity of canvas wraps with no fancy frame, no mat and best of all no additional cost for those things makes them such a great way to enjoy photographs.  You get your print you hang it up.  Done.

I picked a few of my favorite pictures from some recent session including an Engagement of Suzie and Andrew at the beach, a wedding image from Emily and Anthony's awesome wedding and a slightly older image but still one of my all time favorites from Vanessa & Marty's Engagement shoot in Boston.

This image of Vanessa & Marty is one of my favorites!!!  It is printed as a 16X20 and is 1.5 inches deep .  It's amazing how small it looks on a medium sized wall.  You'd be surpassed how small images, that you think are huge when you first hear the dimensions, are once they are on a wall in your home.

The texture of the canvas gives such depth to the image.

Here is Andrew & Suzie on the beach.  This print is a 24X24 square canvas.  Not sure this image really goes on a red wall but you know what, I love my red wall and I love this picture, so it works for me.

Last but not least is the 20X30 of Emily, Anthony and the really cool old truck!  To give you a little size reference my family photos on the shelves below the canvas are 5X7's and smaller.

Suzie & Andrew | Engaged | Scituate, MA

When I first sat down to chat with Suzie last year at a Starbucks in the South End of Boston I knew we had a lot in common.  She had found me because one of her best friends in college is one of my oldest friends from summer camp.  Come to find out shortly after, my college roommate and another one of my 2010 brides were also her teammates from her club swim team growing up.  Small world! Suzie and Andrew are getting married in late May 2011.  We got together in late June to shoot their engagements on the beach near Andrew's parents house in Scituate, MA.   Talk about a beautiful spot- there is a private beach for this small neighborhood of houses and it's just stunning!!!!!!  With rain in the forecast we were a little nervous and although we heard lots of thunder it turned out to be a perfect evening for a photo shoot... so perfect, in fact, there was another photographer on the beach shooting some engagements just as we were leaving.

Andrew is not exactly thrilled about having his photo taken... I promised him it wouldn't hurt and that I didn't bite and I think we even managed to get a few real smiles out of him.  I also found out he can totally rock the camera... just look at these next two.

Love the romantic feel of this one.

The colors of the beach were stunning!!!!!  The sky, the water all that beautiful blue.

On the walk back up to the car I had them stop and sit on the boardwalk so we could play with some of the grassland marsh as well.  More pretty colors and beautiful light... Yes please!

Suzie wanted to do a few more pictures out at the light house just up the coast with the bay and some boats.

This one might my by favorite of the day.

I had a great time hanging out on the coast with Suzie and Andrew.  I also had a kick butt dinner at a restaurant right in town that they suggested... BEST FRIED SHIMP EVER!  Thanks guys for a great day-  can't wait for May :)

Engaged | Newport, RI

A few weeks ago Debbie of Deborah Zoe Photo and I spent a stormy afternoon in Newport RI.  We met this happy couple at Salve Regina where Erika had gone to school and where they are getting married in September. We started out at the campus's beautiful administrative building and then worked out way down to Ocean drive.

Love the architecture!!!!  What a fabulous place... can't wait for wedding photos here in a few months!!!

These two are the perfect combo of sweet and silly.

Even though we couldn't see much of the ocean due to the impending storm the rocks along the coast still made for a great setting... not to mention the beautiful, soft light.

I can't help it... I just love the bird I caught in this last one!

Emily & Anthony | Married

I've known Emily since elementary school so when her mother contacted me last year to tell me of her engagement and ask if I would photograph her wedding I jumped at the chance. These two met through friends back in college.  Anthony came to visit a friend and all night long they stared at each other across the room and by the end of the night they were kissing in the alley.  Emily is, by her own admission, a bit off beat.  She has her own unique style that walks a perfect line between edgy and classic.  Don't ask me how she did it but this girl planned the most fabulous home wedding I've ever seen!  Anthony and Emily were married June 19th in the back yard of their home in Fryeburg, ME.

Carrie of Dutch Bloemen Winkel added a few special touches to Emily's black callalily bouquet.  The necklace wraped around the stems was her grandmothers.  Emily used to go through her jewelry and borrow things.  She borrowed that necklace just before her grandmother passed away.  The locket attached to the bouquet was also her grandmothers.  Her grandfather gave it to her before he went away to war.

I told you this girl was stunning!  Her vail was the coolest vail I've ever seen- as I said Classic and Edgy.

Emily didn't want to see Anthony before the wedding- that had been one tradition she told me she was sticking too.  Then a few weeks before the wedding she sent me a note saying she had been thinking and maybe they would do a first look so they could have lots of time for photos.  Anthony waited for his bride on the steps to the grandstands at the Fryeburg Fair Grounds.  After they had a few minutes to themselves Emily said to me "I am so glad we did this- I'm so relaxed now".  She has even offered to write up a little first hand experience on first look so that people can get a brides perspective on the idea.  Anyway... I digress- The Grandstands was a great place to shoot and the light was perfect!

I'm telling you these two are NATURALS!  I didn't ask them to do anything- I said "stand there" they would kiss, they would look at me then at one another.  Perfection.

The guys in front of a "Gents" restroom sign.  GQ models anyone?

After the grandstands we started out towards a few other buildings and saw two guys driving around this old black truck.  Emily casually mentioned how cool it would be to shoot some photos with it.  I sent Lindsey over to ask the guys if they minded... Of course they were all for it.  They parked the truck in the shade for us and we started snapping away.  Perfect timing.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this one.

One more of the whole bridal party in front of the grandstands before returning to Emily & Anthony's house for the ceremony.

As Emily's father gave her away tears started to roll down my cheeks.  When asked who gave Emily to be married he said "Her mother and I have had Emily all to ourselves for 25 year now we are giving her to you" (or something very close to that I was a little emotional myself and can't be 100% sure of his exact words). Anyway I cried like a baby when he gave Anthony a hug.  I know I wasn't the only one who was emotional, there were tears on all sides.

Husband & Wife.

After the ceremony Emily changed into her Chucks.

I think this is the most unique guest book I've seen yet.  Such a cool idea.

First dance to Adam Sandler's "I Wanna Grow Old With You".

Thank you Emily & Anthony for making me a part of your awesome wedding day!  It was truly a great party where two people just happened to get hitched ;)  Congratulations guys!!!!!
