a hike for the non-hiker

It's been an unusually warm winter and this weekend it has been sunny and beautiful. So rather then sitting inside watching movies as my best friend and I would normally do, we got up this morning and took our puppies for a hike!  Now I am not a hiker.  I am so far from a hiker I can't even tell you but the best thing about this hike is it is much more of a walk with about 10-15mins of actual hiking involved.  It was sunny, warm and quiet.  The perfect way to spend a Sunday morning. Foss Mt has a lot of bang for your buck.  In the winter you have to park down lower and walk up the road a bit but in the summer you can drive almost to the top then walk up the 15min trail and get a breathtaking view.  As a kid I aways said I would get married on top of Foss Mt.  As much as I still love that idea it's a little impractical to make people (including my 92 year old grandfather) walk up a mountain.  But as you can see the view is to die for.

Thank you KC, Anya, Heidi and the pups for making this non hiker enjoy spending some time outside on this beautiful day :)

Something New

I'm trying something new.  I'm taking one of those goals that I've had on my list for almost two years now and I'm putting it into action.  I'm leaping and hoping that all of you- my amazing friends, family and photographer friends will catch me if I start to fall.  I've always wanted to teach.  And seeing as Photography is pretty much the only thing I might be good enough at to be able to teach my goal has been to teach a workshop for photographers just starting out.

I'm calling all Newbies.  Anyone who has hopes and dreams of the full time photographer job title.  Whether you are just starting out with a dream and a camera or if you have a website and are just trying to figure out what comes next.  If you want to learn how I got started, learn from the many mistakes that I made, get a few ideas about marketing, workflow and shooting this one day workshop just might be for you.

It's all in the beginning stages right now but the details are slowly coming together for a workshop in North Conway, NH in late April.  I am so excited to venture into this world of teaching and can't wait to open the registration.    Dates and details will be released very soon so be on the look out for a post with details soon!!!

Words With Friends

Talk about a way to waste some time.  Personally I don't really like Scrabble- which is probably based on the fact that I can't spell and always feel like an idiot when I play a word and everyone else just looks at me like "wow she's dumb, thats not a word".  But this new discovery of Words With Friends is great because it wont let me play words that are not real words so I can try and I don't make a fool of myself.  I know I'm a little late to this popular game but better late then never! One of the best parts is that Silas and I actually play together, not against each other because he still has not joined the world of smart phones.  He loves Scrabble, so this game is right up his ally and I often hear him asking me now "So has anyone played a word yet?"  So if anyone wants to challenge the Spring & Silas dream team of Words With Friends please be my guest, Silas will be more then happy to have a few more games going.

Take a little time and play a game- we often forget how much fun simple board games (or their smartphone versions) can be.  Have a great weekend everyone!!
