A great view.
My desk is right next to a wall of windows that look out to the front yard of my house. This also happens to be where most of our bird feaders are. Makes for a rather distracting but very cool view. We haven't had many birds show up yet this winter and I've been anxiously awaiting their arrival. In the last couple of days I've started spotting a few gold finches, juncos and blue jays. A family friend, Brad Fuller, is an amazing photographer and he and his wife own a local art Gallery and frame shop. He does some incredible bird photographs that have inspired me to try my hand at some bird images. I thought that I'd start simple- stay inside and warm and shoot out the window next to my desk... This is the first attempt I've made and I have to say I'm quite impressed with myself.
Of course we don't only have birds... As you'll see below we have a few other wild life critters that visit.
Engagement Book
Marty & Vanessa chose to use their print credit for a book of some of their favorite engagement photos. These books offered by Pictage are perfect for this kind of thing. It's a fantastic way to enjoy multiple photos without having to buy individual prints. It also provides the added bonus of not having to buy frames for each print, this way they are all bound in a hard cover book. Their book came in the mail yesterday and it looks great!!!! It is in the mail to them today but before I sealed the box I had to snap a few photos... yeah I'm the geek who takes photos of a book of her photos :)
It looks great!! Don't you think?

white out
We have snow!!!! I took a few photos yesterday during the storm- and wanted to share them with you. It's about time we have some white on the ground. Next step- get my ski's tuned and hit the slopes :)
That says we had 8 inches and that was at about 9 am yesterday... it didn't stop snowing until after 5pm... by that time it read just under 16 inches.

These last two I took this morning once the sun came out.
hold me closer tiny cookie....
I'm not a bad cook- now baking... thats another story. A few days ago my friend Shannon and I decided to have a baking extravaganza. We didn't start until 8pm so it wasn't much of an extravaganza but it was fun and tasty!!! We decided to keep it simple on our first attempts of the season: Chocolate Chip Cookies and Paula Dean's 5 Layer Bars. The cookies were first and came out soft, warm and yummy. Paula Dean's 5 Layer Bars were second and much less work. You melt some butter and mix in gram crackers then press that into the bottom of your pan. You then pour chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, pecans and shredded coconut on top of the gram cracker crust. Last, pour a can of sweetend condenced milk over the top of the whole thing and bake it... let me tell you... WOW! We were having a blast singing along to Christmas music and other tunes while baking our yummy and extremely fattening treats.
I think that since we got such a late start there is a very good chance we'll be doing a part 2.
