sick

I'll be honest- there are times when I'm feeling lazy and wish I had the excuse of being sick to get out of something.  Then when I am sick all I want is to feel better because being sick is 100% miserable.  I've been sick three times in the past few months- I finally get past one thing and my body is so run down that I get sick again a few days later- not exactly what I'd call a good time. Hopefully today I'm on the up swing.  I did break my 102.6 degree fever yesterday so I'm headed in the right direction.  I'm refusing to give myself the opportunity to get sick yet again so I plan to lay low and let me body full recover and my immune system to get back on track before I do anything to risk yet another cold/flu/ etc.

Over the past few days these are the things that have kept me company and kept me going:

1. Ally McBeal on Hulu has done a great job of keeping me occupied while stuck in bed for a few days. 2. Who doesn't crave sweets/chocolate when they are sick? I've been snacking on chocolate chips. 3. Sobe Lifewater- My mom brought me some along with a few bagels the other day and they are quite tasty- THANKS MOM!!!! 4. Tylenol- keeping the fever down. 5. I've gone through two full boxes of tissues- thank goodness they are the ones with lotion or my nose would be raw. 6. Rx Cough Syrup with a little codeine to help me sleep and keep my muscles in my chest from hating me. 7. A digital thermometer- love making myself gag while trying to take my temp but the one I've got reads in 9 seconds so at least its fast. 8. My big, comfy, king size bed!!!  Poor Silas has had to sleep in the other room to avoid my germs.  I'm just glad my bed is so comfy makes spending three days in it a little less miserable.

Oh and can't forget my best furry friend Coby.  He has been a loyal dog, sleeping at the foot of my bed most of the day and night!  It's nice to have that constant company.

Now I'm just crossing my fingers that this virus is almost gone and that this time my body will fully recover before some other sickness decides to try to take up residence in my body.

Fine Art Friday

"Spring you have to watch this show" says my mom.  She was right, as per usual. The Weather Channel is now doing a show on thursday nights called "From the Edge with Peter Lik".  I watched the first episode the other day and WOW!  He took this amazing photos of the volcanic sky around one of Hawaii's largest volcanos that show the most amazing colors in the night sky.  Well, needless to say I was inspired.

I don't have a volcano around throwing out crazy colors gases that make the sky magenta but I figured somewhere around here there are hundreds of beautiful night shots.  Tonight on my first real attempt I failed miserably.  I am a believer that you learn more from failure then success so I'm taking tonight as a learning experience and will try again soon with new ideas.

Although my night sky images were pretty much awful I did have some fun playing with long exposures at night.  I tried my hand at a few "ghosting" images.  I think these have a very period feel about them and even though it was not what I had planned to share for this Fine Art Friday post- I think they fit quite nicely.

Happy friday everyone! XOXO Spring

Best of Book

Couture Book is amazing, no seriously A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!  I've been drooling over their books for months now.  A few weeks ago while attending Inspire Boston I was able to finally put my hands on a few of their albums and really see first hand which one fits my brand.  I've known for a while they were the book company for me but they offer so many beautiful books it seems impossible to pick which one to offer to my clients. I had a hard time not being overzealous and picking a 5 or 6 different book options- I really had to narrow it down to the book that I felt fit myself and my couples style.  I kept coming back to their newest French book.  It comes with an organic printed cover- mmmm so nice.  So while I wait for my 10X13 French Cannes Book sample to arrive I'll tease you with a few layouts of my new sample "Best Of" book.

As soon as the real one arrives and I have it in my hot little hands I'll be sure to share a million photos of it, no really there is a good chance i'll take thousands!

My TV Friends

I love spending time outside: walking with my dog, laying in the sun, paddling down the river or skiing.

I also love tv.  I spend more hours watching tv then I would like to admit.  I wouldn't know what to do without my ti-vo.  Catching up on shows on a rainy/snowy day just makes me happy.

I grew up watching shows like Blossom, Full House, Saved by the Bell, Boy Meets World and The Wonder Years on a tv much like the one above.  Classic right?  I do still occasionally watch Full House re-runs when I catch them, I watch some slightly more grown up shows like Law & Order SVU, Parenthood, Dexter and pretty much anything and everything on HGTV etc.  But that doesn't mean I don't still enjoy Glee, One Tree Hill and Gray's Anatomy on a very regular basis (ok maybe those are the ones I'm truly addicted to).

I can't help it, these characters become my tv show friends.  Maybe it's sad, maybe its a bit pathetic but I love my tv show friends and look forward to spending an hour with them once a week.  The biggest problem is my lack of productivity with there is a TV close by.  I'm trying to cut back but with Netflix on XBox it makes it way to easy to get sucked into yet another season of Weeds.

Today I'm trying to split my time between returning emails and a little bonding time with Stacy & Clinton.  What are your can't miss tv shows?

My Co-Pilot

There are some very important people in my life that I wouldn't be who I am, or where I am today without.  My parents are always supportive and are the biggest safety net a girl could need.  Silas is my rock.  We take care of each other and because of him I know what true love is.  My best friend is just that, plain and simple she is my BEST friend.  We have been friends since we were 12 years old and I know that no matter what life throws at us we will be friends forever.  OK, so I'm getting a little cheese ball on you, sorry 'bout that.

Moving on, my  day to day Co-Pilot is my puppy: Coby.  When I put on my shoes he is always right there ready to go, no matter where I might be headed.  Coby loves the ladies at the bank and people at Starbucks who always give him a treat.  To him going for a ride in the car is the most exciting thing in the world, even if it means just having to sit in the car and bark at any passers by while I run into Staples to grab more packing tape (seriously I swear I have a packing tape monster who keeps steeling my rolls, I've bought 5 in the past three months and trust me I'm not mailing that much stuff).

Coby spends a great deal of every day sitting at my feet or curled up next to me on the couch while I stare at my computer screen for hours on end. Occasionally he convinces me to take a little break and play tug-of-war or fetch, you can't deny a face that cute for long.  So, today I want to give credit where credit is due.  I love my family, boyfriend and friends but I think Coby defiantly takes the cake as my true co-pilot, now if only he could work the GPS.
