Baby Liam | May 2010

On saturday morning I drove just a few miles from my home to the other side of Brownfield for some baby photos.  Liam's parents were given a gift certificate to have me come and take some photos of their baby boy.  We scoped out a few locations around their house (looking for the best light).  We settled on their master bed because it had a beautiful, bright skylight above it. Liam was sporting his favorite football team onesie.

After Liam decided he wasn't much in the smiling mood mom and dad decided to try a few in just his dipper.  He seemed to be one of the many babies that is happier naked.

A few shots with mom...

I think this black and white with mom is my favorite of the day!

We also did a few shots with dad.  Who decided to take the smiling issue into his own hands... literally.

I had a wonderful time with Liam and his family.  I really enjoy doing family and baby photos- I mean come on.... how can you not love taking pictures of someone so cute?

.my philosophy and congratulations.

“Taking pictures is like tiptoeing into the kitchen late at night and stealing Oreo cookies”. -Diane Arbus. Who doesn't like oreos?  Ok maybe not everyone loves oreos like I do, but who doesn't like cookies? brownies? ice cream? sweets of any kind really?   Well my motto is figuratively as well as literally... BRING ON THE COOKIES!  I love being a photographer.  From the time I was 13 and first saw a photo magically appear in that darkroom I was hooked.

I never gave much thought into what I was going to actually do with my photo degree from Northeastern University.  I think, for the most part, I hoped I'd take some amazing fine art photo and sell it for millions.  The few times someone would mention wedding photography I would turn up my nose and say "who would want to do that".  Well apparently I would and I just didn't know it.

When I moved to Texas and found my way into Debbie Brower's house I really had no idea just how lucky I was.  I knew how to use a camera, I was pretty good at portraits but I'd never shot a wedding.  I guess Debbie saw some potential because I ended up a photographer for Image Forward Photography.  I learned SO MUCH from her and the two other girls who work with Debbie (her daughter Jaclyn and Jaclyn's sister Miranda).  These girls made wedding photography fun!!!  They taught me that wedding photography didn't have to be stuffy boring formals.  We had fun and our brides were fun!

I owe a lot of my success to Debbie, Miranda and Jaclyn, and I am so proud of them for their recent award from The Knot:  2010 pick The Knot Best of Weddings (the best in weddings as voted by local brides).  HOW COOL IS THAT!!!!!?

I feel very lucky to be traveling back to Texas in June to help shoot Miranda's wedding.  I can't wait to visit with my friends and take some stunningly beautiful images of her wedding day.

So heres to the ladies of Image Forward and to Oreos cuz they are just that yummy!

.Meghan & Jon | head over heels.

Meghan & Jon have the kind of love they make movies about.  This shoot was awesome because they were just this cute all on their own.  There were no awkward moments of them asking me "what should we do".   I told them to just be themselves-  and it worked! They live in VT but were visiting the valley for the weekend.  I know they were excited about this shoot but I think the beautiful weather and their love of mt. biking had a little to do with the weekend trip :)  We met up at the Conway Senic Railroad in North Conway.  They had their STUNNING dog Dudli with them... she makes a few cameo appearances.  The station and train cars set the stage for some fun and romantic photos.

I was a little scared that someone was going to come along and yell at us for being on the train- but no one was around so we took full advantage!

How stinkin' cute are these two?

Meghan your smile is gorgeous!!!

We walked around to the front of the train station and when I asked Jon to dip Meghan he was all for it.  He even decided mid-dip to go "no hands".  Good thing Meghan has good balance and didn't hit the ground, though I'm sure he never would have actually let her fall.

After the train station I thought I'd bring them down to first bridge by the saco river.  WHAT A SPOT!  I can't help but love where I live :)

Dudli was a bit more distracted in the field with another dog around and all the smells so she made her one appearance then ended up in the background of a lot of the photos.

By this point I think Jon was ready for a "lil' Captain"

I had a great time on this mini-shoot with Meghan and Jon.  They are such a fun couple to be around- their love and laughter is contagious.  I wish them all the happiness in the world and hope that when they do start to plan their wedding I'll be lucky enough to have them as models once again!

.Meghan & Jon | Sneak Peak.

Yesterday was BEAUTIFUL!!!!   A perfect day to be outside and enjoying this hardly mud-season weather.  I spent a little time in the afternoon outside with Meghan and Jon.   Meghan and I went to high school together and when I asked for some "Love Bird's" to model for me they jumped at the change!  I felt so lucky- they live in VT and made the trip on a beautiful weekend and found time to hang out with me for a while.  They have a very cute dog who tagged along for the photo shoot. Here is a quick sneak peak from their shoot.

More to come soon!!!
