It's Been A While

2020Blog0009.JPG

Well, my goodness it’s been a while. It has been a very long year and now with 2020 coming to an end I’m ready to celebrate the weddings that I did shoot this year! It was a year of different weddings- masks, size limits, hand sanitizer and postponements. While I didn’t shoot as many weddings as I had planned on this year the ones that did go ahead were wonderful and quite honestly epic in their own right.

So without further blabbing- here are some of my absolute favorite wedding photos form 2020! It may have been not quite the year we planned but it sure had some great high points for these wonderful couples!

XOXO,
Spring

.10 years and a thank you.

oreo

“Taking pictures is like tiptoeing into the kitchen late at night and stealing Oreo cookies”. -Diane Arbus. Who doesn't like oreos?  Ok maybe not everyone loves oreos like I do, but who doesn't like cookies? brownies? ice cream? sweets of any kind really?   Well my motto is figuratively as well as literally... BRING ON THE COOKIES!  I love being a photographer.  From the time I was 13 and first saw an image magically appear in that darkroom I was hooked.

I never gave much thought into what I was going to actually do with my photo degree from Northeastern University.  I think I hoped I'd take some amazing fine art photo and sell it for millions.  The few times someone would mention wedding photography I would turn up my nose and say "who would want to do that?”  Well turns out I would and I just didn't know it.

When I moved to Texas back in 2007 and found my way to Debbie Brower I really had no idea just how lucky I was.  I knew how to take photos, I was quite good at portraits but I'd never shot a wedding.  I guess Debbie saw some potential because I ended up working as a photographer for Image Forward Photography photographing weddings, engagements, seniors and families.  I learned so much from my time With Debbie and her girls at Imagine Forward-  These girls taught me that wedding photography was actually really fun!!!  They taught me that there was so much more than stuffy boring formals and that working with brides was fun!

Here I am 10 years into running and owning my own wedding photography studio and I could’t be more grateful that I’ve been given this wonderful opportunity.

Here’s to 10 years and hopefully 10 more!

Stone Mountain Art's Center Wedding | Jennifer & Keil

SMACStoneMountainArtsCenterMaineWedding0022.JPG

Stone Mountain Art’s Center is one of my all time favorite places. Not just for weddings but for their amazing concerts and the delicious food! Not to mention that its almost in my back yard (no joke it’s less then 5 miles from my house!). I feel so lucky when I get to photograph weddings at SMAC because I feel like I’m at home. The staff there are life long friends and, as I mentioned before, the food is the best. The best! With the post and beam barns, the beautiful fields just down the street and the warm cozy atmosphere it seems like most of the couples who choose to get married at SMAC are just my type of people. Jennifer and Keil are no different. From the very start I knew these two were going to be fun and I knew their day would be beautiful and heartfelt in every detail. They had the most perfect October day with beautiful colors and warm sun. My job just doesn’t get much better!!

Whitney's Inn Jackson, NH Wedding | Jamie & Jesse

WhitneysInnJacksonNHWedding_0009.jpg

Rain on your wedding day is said to be good luck- and I hope thats the case because Jamie and Jesse had the most beautiful wedding day- rain and all and they deserve the absolute best! These two were troopers!!! They braved the misty weather for a beautiful first look up on the hill above the inn and decided to brave the possibility of rain with an outdoor ceremony and of course it started to pour buckets and buckets just as Jamie started walking down the isle with her dad. Thankfully rain didn’t dampen anyones mood and although wet they said “I do” and the rest of the day was filled with joy and laughter and celebrations!

Coastal Maine Intimate Wedding | Kaela and Ryan

MaineCoastal053IntimateWedding.JPG

After starting to plan a big shin-dig for 2018, Kaela and Ryan decided that an intimate coastal Maine wedding was just what they wanted to celebrate the start of their forever.  They wanted to be surrounded by their families and keep things simple, sweet and about what really matters- LOVE.

I was beyond honored to document their start of forever and I can't tell you how much I enjoy shooting these somewhat more low-key, small, intimate weddings.  Kaela and Ryan got ready at The Grand Hotel in Kennebunkport which made for the perfect backdrop for some beautiful getting ready portraits and details before we ventured over to The Scoop Deck for their first look!  **Can I just tell you that anyone getting married and wanting to do a first look at an ice cream shop- please call me!!! Anything ice cream and wedding related makes my heart happy!**

The ceremony was simple perfection.  Preformed by the wonderful Erika Hewitt and standing under the tree where Ryan proposed they promised forever surrounded by their families.  We took just a few more moments after the ceremony for some family photos and then headed to the beach for one last set of portraits an the beautiful soft blues and grays of the Maine coast didn't disappoint!!!

Kaela and Ryan's wedding day was a dream.  It was just the sweet and simple, all about love, surrounded by family type of event that speaks to my heart.  I can't wait to continue to focus my business on these intimate weddings and spend more and more of my time with amazing couples like these two!

** Huge shout out to Nora of SP Films for being my partner in crime for documenting Kaela and Ryan's Wedding day- defiantly check her out if you are looking for a videographers- she's seriously one the THE BEST out there!!**
